What do I Bring to the Table?

You’ve probably asked yourself this question in one capacity or another.  I know I have.  Preparing for a a job interview, a meeting, group, organization or family. What do you bring to your most intimate relationships?  Others might have shared their thoughts with you.  Well, their opinion anyway.  And…their opinion may have been affirming. You received a pat on the back or a high five. Or, a hurtful response…you bring nothing or your contribution is minuscule at best.  The opinions of others may have validity, but consider the source.  But, the truest answer lies within you.  What I’ve come to realize is that the answer  “you bring nothing” is a complete falsehood.  You bring you.  Who created you?  Who breathed life into you?

You may have limited knowledge, limited perspectives, limited resources and limited experience, but you bring you.  Don’t allow doubt, the negativity of others or thoughts of insufficiency  to minimize what you contribute.

Ask yourself, what do I bring to the table?

Do I bring guilt?

Do I bring burdens?

What is my knowledge base?

What experience or expertise do I have?

How may I be used for betterment of purpose?

Whatever you bring, God can use it.  Others can benefit from your offerings of genuine self awareness and willingness to grow.  Willingness to share and sit at the table.
