Hustle

I was in a store waiting to check out when the manager advised the young woman at the register “The eagle had landed.”  The manager was referring to the company’s corporate jet. This store was prepared, however other locations were unaware which stores would receive a visit.

The young woman at the register flashed a smile and told her manager everything would be fine should the store receive a visit from corporate. She had an upbeat presence. I could feel the Spirit of God.  The energy and confidence she exhibited was heartwarming.  The assurance in someone so young, perhaps late in teen years, was encouraging. I agreed with this young employee that everything would be fine because the store was neat and orderly; the staff was the reason.

As I gave parting words, I noticed the young employee’s t-shirt.

It read: “HUSTLE”

She is a go getter and full of positive energy.  I told her I hoped the “eagle” would land at her location.  Her shirt summed her attitude and willingness to WORK.  The company should be pleased to have such a courteous, driven and positive employee.

I paused to think about how much “hustle” I have.  Am I positive and willing to do the work, whatever the work is? I was inspired by this young woman, her attitude, work ethic and Spirit of God that flowed through her.   We can find inspiration in unexpected places.
